Does Google accept IPv6? What we measured

In our 102-domain census of 14 September 2026, google.com published 5 AAAA records on the apex and 16 on www, and the host its homepage lands on, www.google.com, resolves over IPv6. Re-checked on 20 September 2026 from 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8: www.google.com answers with 8 AAAA records, the first one 2001:4860:4826:7700::. The hosts behind it: suggestqueries.google.com (4 AAAA), www.googleapis.com (8 AAAA).

This is a DNS check, not a connection test: an AAAA record means an IPv6 exit can reach the host, and nothing more. What the platform serves to a given client is decided by its own rules, its rate limits per prefix and its anti-automation, which is why every page in this family says which jobs fit and which do not.

Why IPv6 proxies for Google

Google is the target where IPv6 pricing pays off most visibly: www.google.com publishes IPv6 addresses (8 AAAA records from the resolvers we use, 16 in the September census), a result page weighs about 55–60 KB on the wire for a client that does not run JavaScript, and rank tracking is a job made of millions of small, identical fetches. At $0.20/GB a gigabyte is roughly 17,000 result pages; at $0.083/GB on the 3 TB pack the same gigabyte costs eight cents. A tracker checking 10,000 keywords in five countries every day sits inside the $20 pack for the month.

What IPv6 changes on Google is the cost of the address, not Google's behaviour. Google rate-limits and challenges by prefix and by behaviour, so the working unit is the /64: spread queries over the subnet diversity of the pool, keep a sane pace per exit, and treat a challenge page as a signal to slow down rather than a reason to burn more addresses.

When IPv6 is the wrong network for Google

Anything that involves a Google account — Ads verification from a signed-in profile, Search Console, YouTube Studio, Workspace — belongs on a sticky residential or mobile session, where the address is a household or a phone and stays the same for hours. IPv6 is for the anonymous, high-volume side of Google.

The same account carries the other networks: mobile proxies for Google (carrier IPs, sticky up to 24 hours, from $5 for 1 GB) and residential proxies for Google (home-ISP IPs in 200+ countries, from $1.00/GB, with a free 100 MB trial). A proxy makes the query originate from a place; combined with the right hl and gl parameters and a uule for the city it reproduces the local SERP. It does not make excessive querying acceptable, and Google's terms apply to how you use the results.

Which session to use for Google on IPv6: rotating or static

Rotating (new IPv6 address per request). Each query should leave from a fresh address; keep a sticky session only for a signed-in account you use for QA. Spread the request rate — the network cannot fix a scraper that hammers one page. On the IPv6 network the username carries the country; leave the session out for a fresh address on every request, or set a static session in the endpoint generator when a flow must keep one. Pacing by /64. Pace by /64, not by address: a fresh IPv6 address on every request does not reset Google's counters if all the addresses sit in the same subnet. Keep a query every few seconds per exit, honour a challenge page by backing off, and never retry a captcha in a loop.

SOCKS5 works with the same username on the SOCKS5 port (socks5h:// in Python's proxies, --socks5-hostname in curl), so the hostname is resolved at the exit — which is what you want, because the exit is the one with IPv6 connectivity. Test with https://api64.ipify.org: the answer should be an IPv6 address in the country you set.

Does Google rate-limit IPv6 proxies by subnet?

QuanticData's experience is that Google counts by prefix as much as by address: rotating through many addresses of one /64 behaves like one address, which is why our IPv6 exits are spread across /48s and /64s and why the advice on this page is to budget requests per /64.
