What is Google, and why put a proxy in front of it?

Google Search is the reason rank tracking, SEO and most of the proxy industry exist. Results are localized to the country, the city and increasingly the neighbourhood of the searcher, so a rank report is only true for the place it was measured from. Agencies track thousands of keywords per client across dozens of cities; brands verify that their ads and Shopping listings appear where they paid for them; researchers collect public results at scale. Every one of those jobs needs exits in the right places and enough of them that no single address makes an unreasonable number of queries. That is a proxy job, and Google is the target that punishes the wrong network most quickly.

Why mobile proxies for Google

More than half of Google's searches come from phones, and the mobile SERP differs from the desktop one: different features, different ads, different ranking. Rank tracking that ignores it is half a report. A mobile proxy returns the results a real handset on that carrier sees, and because carrier IPs are shared with thousands of real users behind CGNAT they receive the least friction of any network. What a proxy does not do. A proxy makes the query originate from a place; combined with the right hl and gl parameters and a uule for the city it reproduces the local SERP. SOCKS5 works with the same username on the SOCKS5 port (socks5h:// in Python's proxies, --socks5-hostname in curl), so the hostname is resolved at the exit.

Do mobile proxies work with Google on Android and iPhone?
