What this list of Italian hardware stores is
It is the list of the hardware stores in an Italian area (neighbourhood ferramenta, hardware shops with a tool counter and hardware dealers), with business name, shop address, phone, website and the emails published on that website. It is not an archive to download: it is extracted when you order it, so the collection date is the delivery date.
Searches for hardware stores in Italy mostly return the big DIY chains and travel forum threads about where to buy a screwdriver. This file is for the opposite side: manufacturers, distributors and agents who sell to independent shops and need the shop address, the counter phone and the website. Worth knowing: in Bari 51 of 56 shops have a phone. Here the phone matters more than the email.
The numbers on this page are for Bari: the «ferramenta» search of 4 October 2026 exhausted the map results for the city and returned 87 listings; 31 belonged to other categories (building-materials dealers, key cutting, locksmiths, housewares and general stores, bathroom furniture, marine supplies) and we took them out. That leaves 56: 54 listed as «Hardware store» and 2 as hardware dealers. DIY superstores, tool shops and paint shops are outside the count; on request we add them.

The sector from the listing, not the ATECO code
A company picks its ATECO activity code when it registers and often never updates it. We take the category the business shows today on its public listing; listings of other categories stay out.
Operating address confirmed
The column says «yes» when the map listing and the national directory listing give the same address; otherwise it says which of the two sources gives it.
No duplicates, not even across orders
Listings of the same business become one row, and a business you already received in an earlier order does not reach you again.
The contacts you already have stay out
If you upload a file of your contacts to the dashboard (emails, phones, websites or VAT numbers), those businesses stay out of the list and are not charged.
Date read on every row
The «Checked on» column is the day we read the sources of that row; «Directory listing» and «Map listing» link to the pages it comes from.
Emails read on the website, with their type
The email is the one the business publishes on its own website, with its type: generic, personal or certified (PEC). We deliver only emails whose domain has a mail server (MX check): the others stay empty and are not charged as rows with an email.
Phones in international format
Every number is written as +39 followed by the number, with a second phone when the business publishes two.
Before a calling campaign, Italian numbers must be screened against the Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni, Italy's do-not-call register. A business that finds itself in a list can ask to be removed: remove your business from our lists.

Compliance: what is in the file and what is up to you
The list contains business contacts only: business name, operating address, published number, website and the emails the business publishes on its own website. No consumer data, no private contacts, no data about the shop’s customers, no personal profiles bought from third parties.
For business-to-business contact the legal basis is legitimate interest, which the GDPR names explicitly for direct marketing in recital 47. Many hardware stores are sole traders or family companies in the owner’s name: for them the contact detail counts as personal data and the processing has to be assessed case by case.
Email, SMS and automated messages need consent in Italy. Sending commercial communications through automated systems requires the recipient's prior consent, even when the recipient is a company or a professional (art. 130 of the Italian Privacy Code): the email column is for whoever already has that consent, or for the cases where the law does not require it, such as existing customers for similar products. Calls with a live operator are allowed only to numbers not listed in the Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni, Italy's do-not-call register.

Does the list include DIY chains, paint shops and wholesalers?
Not unless you ask. In Bari the «ferramenta» search also brought in building-materials dealers, locksmiths, key cutting, a DIY store and a paint shop: we left them out of the 56. A big store that lists itself as «Hardware store» stays in. On request we add the other categories, kept apart in the category column. Wholesalers are a different list.
How up to date is the data?
It is current to the day of extraction: the list is generated when you order it, not pulled from an archive. Local hardware stores change hands, move or close when the owner retires: one Bari listing already announced a move. The map status shows, row by row, who is marked as temporarily or permanently closed.
How many Italian hardware stores in the list have an email?
The emails do not come from an archive: we read them on the shop’s website, so coverage depends on how many have one. In the Bari sample 51 stores out of 56 had a published phone. In the free sample you see how many rows have an email before you pay.
Is it legal to contact these hardware stores?
They are business contacts published by the businesses themselves; for B2B the GDPR allows legitimate interest (recital 47). Commercial emails and SMS sent through automated systems need the recipient's prior consent (art. 130 of the Italian Privacy Code), except the soft-spam case of existing customers for similar products.
