How to set up a proxy in Ghost Browser: add it, give it to an Identity, fix the errors

Setting up a proxy in Ghost Browser in four steps: copy host, port, username and password of a sticky line from the QuanticData Connection details, add them in Ghost Proxy Control with Add a Single Proxy (HTTP on port 8080 or SOCKS5 on port 1080), pick the proxy as the Active Identity and reload, then check city, region and time zone; the card lists the three things to verify when it does not connect.

To add a proxy in Ghost Browser, click the Ghost Proxy Control button, choose Add/Edit Proxies, then Add a Single Proxy. Enter Host, Port, Username and Password as separate fields and click Add Proxy. Then pick that proxy as the Active Identity and click Reload. Below: each field, which level wins, Residential Premium, ISP and mobile proxies, and a fix for each error.

Ghost Browser keeps accounts apart with Identities: each one has its own cookie jar, its own tab colour and, once you assign one, its own proxy. The proxy is what decides which IP address and which country the sites see. Proxies live in Ghost Proxy Control, Ghost Browser's own extension, which can give a different proxy to a tab, an Identity or a whole Workspace. The field names below are the ones in Ghost Browser's documentation, and the values come from the QuanticData endpoint generator.

What you need before you start

  • Ghost Browser with Ghost Proxy Control. On Ghost Browser's plans page the Free version includes Ghost Proxy Control for assigning a proxy by Workspace or Identity (not by tab) and up to three Identities; Ghost Browser's Basic plan does not include it; its Pro plan includes it for every tab, Identity and Workspace.
  • A proxy plan. Residential Premium, ISP or mobile: all of them work in Ghost Browser. The table further down says which one fits which Identity.
  • The four values: host, port, username and password. In the QuanticData dashboard they are under My proxies, on the plan's page, in the Endpoint generator, under Connection details.

Where each value goes in Ghost Proxy Control

Ghost Proxy Control does not take a proxy as one pasted line: Add a Single Proxy has a field for each part. Open Connection details under the generator's Preview and copy the values one by one:

Ghost Proxy Control fieldWhat to enterExample (Korea, sticky)
Name (optional)A label you will recognise in the Identity menusKR identity 01
HostThe gateway, with nothing in front for HTTP; socks5:// in front for SOCKS5residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io
Port (if required)8080 for HTTP, 1080 for SOCKS58080
Username (if required)The whole username, targeting and session includedUSER-country-kr-sid-p01-ttl-60m
Password (if required)The plan's passwordPASS
Tags (optional)Words to enable or disable groups of proxies at oncekr, premium

The same proxy as the generator shows it, and as the four values:

# the generator's Preview (output format host:port:user:pass)
residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io:8080:USER-country-kr-sid-p01-ttl-60m:PASS

# the same values in Ghost Proxy Control
Host residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io
Port 8080
Username USER-country-kr-sid-p01-ttl-60m
Password PASS

The username is the whole string, with everything after the first dash: -country-kr picks the exit country, -sid-p01 names the session and -ttl-60m keeps it for 60 minutes. Copy it whole. A username cut at the first dash still authenticates, but the Identity then leaves from a random country on a new IP at every request.

Connection details in the QuanticData Endpoint generator: host residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io, port 8080, the username with -country-kr-sid- targeting and the password, each with a copy button, credentials blurred

Step by step: add a proxy and give it to an Identity

The QuanticData Endpoint generator for a Residential Premium plan: Korea selected, Session set to Sticky with a 30-minute TTL, HTTP protocol, output format host:port:user:pass and the preview line, with the username and password blurred
Step 1 in the QuanticData dashboard: country, sticky session and protocol.
  1. Generate the values. In the QuanticData dashboard open My proxies, then your plan. In the Endpoint generator choose the Country (South Korea is listed as Korea), set Session to Sticky, set Session TTL (minutes) to at least the time the Identity stays in use, keep Protocol on HTTP and open Connection details.
  2. Open Ghost Proxy Control. Click its button in the extension bar and choose Add/Edit Proxies. The settings page opens in a tab.
  3. Click Add a Single Proxy. Fill in Name, Host, Port, Username and Password from Connection details, add a tag if you group proxies, and click Add Proxy. The proxy now appears under Proxy List.
  4. Open a tab in the Identity. In the Identity Manager, create an Identity with a name and a colour, then click the plus icon next to its name to open a tab in it.
  5. Assign the proxy. Click the Ghost Proxy Control button again. Under Override connection for, pick the proxy in the Active Identity menu, then click Reload. Active Tab and Active Workspace work the same way for one tab or a whole Workspace.
  6. Check it. In a tab of that Identity open ipinfo.io/json, or search "what is my IP". The city, region and time zone must match the -country- in the username. Ghost Browser's documentation adds a quicker check: right-click the page and the proxy appears near the bottom of the menu.
Ghost Proxy Control settings page, Add a Single Proxy tab, filled with a QuanticData Residential Premium line and six numbered arrows: 1 Add/Edit Proxies then Add a Single Proxy, 2 Host residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io with no http://, 3 Port 8080 for HTTP (1080 for SOCKS5), 4 the Username USER-country-kr-sid-p01-ttl-60m copied whole, 5 the password, 6 Add Proxy
Step 3 in Ghost Proxy Control, redrawn with our values.
Ghost Browser with the Ghost Proxy Control popup open over an ipinfo.io tab of the Identity KR identity 01, with four numbered arrows: 1 the Ghost Proxy Control button, 2 Active Identity set to the saved proxy, 3 Reload, 4 the real check in that tab: Seoul, Seoul, KR, Asia/Seoul, IP masked
Steps 5 and 6, redrawn: the result in the tab is a real check of a QuanticData Korea line on 23 October 2026.

For a permanent Identity there is a second way in: open the Identity Manager and click Set Proxy under the Identity, then choose the proxy from the menu. The Identity keeps that proxy every time it opens, in any Workspace.

Tab, Identity or Workspace: which proxy wins

Ghost Proxy Control can set a proxy at three levels, and its documentation gives the order in which they apply:

  • A proxy set under Override connection for wins over Auto-Assign Proxies.
  • A tab's proxy wins over the proxy of its Temporary Identity and of its Workspace.
  • A Temporary Identity's proxy wins over the Workspace's proxy.
Ghost Browser IdentityCookiesProxy
Default Identity (gray tabs)One cookie jar for the whole browserPer tab only, not for the group
Temporary IdentityGone when its last tab closes; separate in each WorkspaceSet from Ghost Proxy Control; lost when the tabs close
Identity (Identity Manager)Kept, and shared across WorkspacesSet once and used every time

For accounts that log in again and again, use permanent Identities, each with its own proxy: the cookies and the address stay together. Temporary Identities suit quick checks. To remove a proxy, click Clear Tab, Clear Identity or Clear Workspace in the popup, then Reload.

One sticky session per Identity

An Identity is meant to look like one person on one connection. A rotating proxy changes IP on every request, which is fine for scraping and wrong for an account that logs in. A sticky session keeps one IP for as long as the session lives, and the session lives in the username, so the entry never has to change once it is saved.

# Identity 1: Korea, one session for a working day
Username USER-country-kr-sid-p01-ttl-480m

# Identity 2: same plan, its own session (never reuse p01)
Username USER-country-kr-sid-p02-ttl-480m

# Identity 3: Korea, in use all day
Username USER-country-kr-sid-p03-ttl-1440m
  • A different session ID in every Identity. Two Identities on the same entry share one IP, which is what Identities are there to avoid.
  • A lifetime longer than the work. The generator accepts up to 1440 minutes, a full day. When the session ends, the next request gets a new IP, and a site can see that as a new login location.
  • The country in the username. Without -country- the exit can be anywhere, and the Identity's time zone will not match. Ghost Proxy Control 2.0.0.10 added support for overriding the operating system's time zone to match the proxy's.

With Session set to Sticky, the generator makes as many lines as the Quantity field says, ten by default, each with its own session ID; Copy all or Download takes them out. One line per Ghost Proxy Control entry, one entry per Identity.

The Generate 10 sessions button in the QuanticData Endpoint generator with Copy all and Download, and the list of sticky Korea lines ready to copy, credentials blurred
Ten sticky lines, one per Identity: every line has its own session ID.

Auto-Assign Proxies uses the same list for Temporary Identities: tick Assign each New, choose Temporary Identity or tab, then Random, Random (no repeat) or Next proxy in list. Every new Temporary Identity gets the next entry, so with one sticky session per entry each one gets its own IP. Re-assign Existing, then Reload, hands the list out again to the Temporary Identities already open.

Residential Premium, ISP and mobile proxies in Ghost Browser

Proxy typeIn Ghost Proxy ControlGood for
Residential PremiumHost residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io, Port 8080 (HTTP) or 1080 (SOCKS5); one sticky username per Identity with country, region, city or ISP in it; username and password onlyMost Identities: home IPs in the country you choose, for example South Korea residential proxies
ISPFixed IPs listed under Assigned IPs as IP:Port:Username:Password: the IP goes in Host, then Port, Username and Password; one IP per IdentityLong-lived accounts that should keep the same address for months: South Korea ISP proxies
MobileHost mobile.quantumproxies.io, HTTP 8080 or SOCKS5 1080, -type-mobile in the username; Global, USA, EU or Asia gateway; with IP whitelist, Host and Port onlyPhone-first platforms and accounts tied to mobile networks: South Korea mobile proxies

On mobile plans the IP whitelist is a second way to sign in: add your IP in the generator, take the host:port list it gives, and leave Username and Password empty in Ghost Proxy Control, which marks both as "if required". For a new IP on Residential Premium or Mobile, use a new session ID in the username (-sid-p02 instead of -sid-p01), edit the entry with the pencil in Proxy List, and Reload. ISP proxies are static addresses by design.

For a wider view of why each Identity needs its own address, see residential proxies for antidetect browsers, or the same setup in Dolphin Anty. The plans themselves are on the pages for QuanticData residential proxies, ISP proxies and QuanticData mobile proxies.

Adding many proxies at once

  1. Make the lines. In the generator, set Session to Sticky and the quantity you need, generate, then Copy all or Download.
  2. Get Ghost's file. In Ghost Proxy Control open Add Bulk Proxies and export the pre-formatted .csv file. It already holds the proxies you added, with the columns Custom Name, Host, Port, Username, Password and Tags.
  3. Fill it in. One proxy per row, the four values split into their columns. Do not rename the file or change the column names. A blank Custom Name is numbered for you (1, 2, 3).
  4. Import it. Click Import Proxy List and choose the file. Then test each entry with the Test button to the right of it.

Ghost Browser proxy not working: errors and fixes

When Ghost Browser cannot use a proxy, the tab shows Chromium's error page instead of the site, or a window asks for a username and password. These are the cases behind them, in the order to check.

One test outside the browser settles most cases in a minute. If this returns an address in Korea, the proxy works and the problem is in the entry's fields:

curl -x http://residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io:8080 \
  -U "USER-country-kr-sid-test-ttl-10m:PASS" https://ipinfo.io/json

If the same command fails on your network but works from another one, a firewall or your provider is blocking the connection to the proxy port.

HTTP or SOCKS5 in Ghost Browser

Ghost Proxy Control takes HTTP, HTTPS, IPv6 and SOCKS5 proxies. HTTP is the default: Host without a prefix and Port 8080, and it is the one to start with. For SOCKS5, Ghost's documentation asks for the scheme in the Host field, so the entry becomes Host socks5://residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io with Port 1080 and the same username and password. SOCKS5 passes any kind of connection, not only web pages; the details are on the page for SOCKS5 proxies. If a SOCKS5 entry does not connect while the same username works on HTTP 8080, keep HTTP: it carries everything a browser tab needs.

Before you run accounts

A proxy changes where an Identity's traffic comes from, not what the account is allowed to do. Keep to each platform's terms and to the law where you work, and use one Identity, one session and one address per account.

FAQ

Quick answers on ghost browser proxy.

How do I add a proxy in Ghost Browser?

Click the Ghost Proxy Control button in the extension bar, choose Add/Edit Proxies, then Add a Single Proxy. Enter Host, Port, Username and Password, add a name if you like, and click Add Proxy. Then open the popup again, pick the proxy as the Active Identity, Active Tab or Active Workspace, and click Reload.

What is Ghost Proxy Control?

Ghost Proxy Control is Ghost Browser's own proxy extension. It stores your proxies and assigns a different one to each tab, Identity or Workspace. It does not come with proxies: you add the ones from your provider. On Ghost Browser's plans page the Free version includes it by Workspace or Identity, Ghost Browser's Basic plan does not include it and its Pro plan includes it for every tab, Identity and Workspace.

How do I give each Ghost Browser Identity its own proxy?

Add one proxy entry per Identity, each with its own sticky session ID in the username, for example -sid-p01 and -sid-p02. Then assign each entry to its Identity: from the Ghost Proxy Control popup with Active Identity, or from the Identity Manager with Set Proxy. A permanent Identity keeps its proxy every time it opens.

Does Ghost Browser support SOCKS5 proxies?

Yes. Ghost Proxy Control needs the socks5 scheme in the Host field, for example socks5://residentialpremium.quantumproxies.io, then Port 1080 and the username and password. HTTP on port 8080 needs no prefix and is the simpler choice for browsing.

Why does Ghost Browser show ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED?

The browser could not reach the proxy. The usual causes are a typo or an http:// in the Host field, a Port that does not match the type (8080 for HTTP, 1080 for SOCKS5 on QuanticData) or a network that blocks the port. Test the same values with curl outside the browser: if curl works, fix the entry's fields; if it fails, check your network or the plan.

Does Ghost Browser work with mobile proxies?

Yes. A mobile proxy goes in like any other entry: Host mobile.quantumproxies.io, Port 8080 or 1080, and a username with -type-mobile and a sticky session ID. Mobile plans also offer IP whitelist sign-in, where Ghost Proxy Control needs only Host and Port.

One sticky IP for every Ghost Browser Identity

Residential Premium, ISP and mobile proxies with country targeting and sticky sessions up to 1440 minutes, HTTP and SOCKS5, copied straight from the endpoint generator into Ghost Proxy Control.
