In our 102-domain census of 14 September 2026, whatsapp.com published 2 AAAA records on the apex and 2 on www, and the host its homepage lands on, www.whatsapp.com, resolves over IPv6 (ipv4 control: http 400 to plain curl, host alive). Re-checked on 20 September 2026 from 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8: www.whatsapp.com answers with 1 AAAA record, the first one 2a03:2880:f208:c5:face:b00c:0:167. The hosts behind it: web.whatsapp.com (1 AAAA), graph.facebook.com (1 AAAA).

This is a DNS check, not a connection test: an AAAA record means an IPv6 exit can reach the host, and nothing more. What the platform serves to a given client is decided by its own rules, its rate limits per prefix and its anti-automation, which is why every page in this family says which jobs fit and which do not.

Why IPv6 proxies for WhatsApp

WhatsApp resolves over IPv6 on www.whatsapp.com, on web.whatsapp.com and on graph.facebook.com, the host the WhatsApp Business Cloud API is served from. That last one is the only part of WhatsApp where an IPv6 exit earns its price: a service that sends and receives messages through the Cloud API from a fixed place, whose limits are per phone number and per app rather than per address, and whose egress is just traffic. The public web pages of whatsapp.com — business features, pricing per market, the FAQ — are light and public and cost nothing to sample.

Everything a person would call "using WhatsApp" is an account on a phone. The app authenticates the device, ties the account to a number, and its own proxy setting takes a host and a port with no credentials and no address preference. That is the mobile network with a sticky session, within WhatsApp's terms, and it is the page we would send you to if what you run is accounts.

When IPv6 is the wrong network for WhatsApp

Accounts and the app. A WhatsApp account is a phone number and a device; the network that fits is mobile with a sticky session, and bulk messaging is what the Business API exists for, under WhatsApp's own limits. IPv6 covers API egress and the public site.

SOCKS5 works with the same username on the SOCKS5 port (socks5h:// in Python's proxies, --socks5-hostname in curl), so the hostname is resolved at the exit — which is what you want, because the exit is the one with IPv6 connectivity. Test with https://api64.ipify.org: the answer should be an IPv6 address in the country you set.
