SERP API · Google News

Google News API

The news articles Google shows for a query, returned as JSON: headline, link, publisher, date, snippet and image. This is the SERP API with search_type: "news"; Google has no public API for Google News search, so this is how teams read it as data. You pay per search.

A Google News search for electric vehicles in the US: the first article in the middle with publisher and age, headline and snippet marked, and the real news[0] JSON: The Washington Post, 11 hours ago, title, description and link. The answer came from the plain page: $0.0009 per search, $0.002 when rendered.
Google News results as JSON: each article with headline, publisher, age, snippet and link.

What you get

One article, one object.

12 articles for "electric vehicles" in our test on 30 October 2026. Results follow the country and language you set, so the same query gives the local press of each market.

Example

One request, one JSON answer.

curl -X POST https://api.quanticdata.io/v1/scraper/serp \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"query":"electric vehicles","search_type":"news","country":"us","lang":"en","num":10}'
cURL: news for "electric vehicles" in the US
import requests

r = requests.post("https://api.quanticdata.io/v1/scraper/serp",
    headers={"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"},
    json={"query": "electric vehicles", "search_type": "news", "country": "us", "lang": "en", "num": 10})
for a in r.json()["payload"]["news"]:
    print(a["date"], a["source"], "-", a["title"])
Python: date, publisher and headline
{
  "rank": 1,
  "title": "Why Americans can’t buy these world-class EVs",
  "link": "https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2026/10/29/americans-face-tariffs-ot…",
  "source": "The Washington Post",
  "date": "11 hours ago",
  "description": "Cheap but luxurious EVs are plentiful in Mexico but locked out of the United States by …",
  "image": null
}
The first article of the real answer to this request, 30 October 2026 (long URLs shortened).

The answer is the usual envelope: payload.news holds the list above, payload.search_metadata says which tier answered and how long it took.

Parameters

What, where, in which language.

Request parameters for search_type: news
ParameterMeaning
queryTopic, company or keyword
num, pageResults per call and the page to read
countryProxy exit and Google locale (gl), ISO code: us, gb, de, it…
langInterface language (hl): en, de, it…
devicedesktop (default), mobile, ios or android

Every parameter, for every vertical, is in the API reference.

Price

Per search, nothing monthly.

A successful search costs $0.0009 when Google's plain page answers and $0.002 when the rendered page is needed; search_metadata.path in the answer says which one you got. In our test on 30 October 2026 the call answered from the plain page in 1.05 seconds.

Failed searches are not charged. There is no subscription: a $2 free credit every month covers the first calls, then you top up your balance by card, PayPal or crypto.

If you would rather pay per article than per search, the Google News collector returns the same data at $0.0005 per delivered article (up to 100 per run), with no pagination to handle.

Every price per search and per vertical: SERP API pricing.

Official API or this one

Google News has no public search API.

Google publishes news to readers through Google News and Search, and to publishers through its own programs; there is no public API that returns the articles Google shows for a query.

This endpoint reads that results page for the country and language you choose and returns it as JSON, billed per successful search.

Use cases

What teams build with it.

Media monitoring: every article on a brand, a person or a competitor, per market, on a schedule.

News feeds for agents and RAG: fresh headlines to ground an answer, then read the article as Markdown.

PR measurement: which outlets covered a launch and when.

Before you call it

Questions developers ask

Is there an official Google News API?

No. Google has no public API for Google News search results; this endpoint returns them as JSON.

Can I get news for one country or language?

Yes: country sets the market and the proxy exit, lang the interface language. The same query returns different outlets in each market.

Can I get the full article text?

The news result gives headline, snippet and link. To read the article, send the link to the web scraping API, which returns it as Markdown.

How fresh are the results?

They are what Google shows at the moment of the call; the date field says how old each article is.

How do I monitor many topics?

Send one search per topic, or many at once with /v1/serp/bulk, and run it on a schedule.

Start with the free credit.

Create an API key, run the example above and read the JSON. Pay per search after the $2 monthly credit, no subscription.
