# v2rayN Proxy Setup: Add an HTTP or SOCKS Server

v2rayN adds a plain proxy from its Settings menu. Choose Add [HTTP] or Add [SOCKS], type the gateway host in address, the port in port and the login in the optional username and password fields, leave the transport settings alone, then set the server as active and test its delay. The system proxy or Tun mode routes Windows through it.

## Where the proxy goes in v2rayN

Settings (配置项) → Add [HTTP] or Add [SOCKS]

- **Proxy type**: Add [HTTP] or Add [SOCKS]
- **Host**: address (地址)
- **Port**: port (端口)
- **Username**: username (用户名)
- **Password**: password (密码)

## Set up the proxy in v2rayN

Open v2rayN, follow the 5 moves below and finish with the tool's own check. The values are in the table after the steps.

1. 01

   ### Add a server from the Settings menu

Open v2rayN and click Settings (配置项) in the top menu. Choose Add [HTTP] for the HTTP port or Add [SOCKS] for the SOCKS5 port; the dialog is the same, only the protocol differs.

![v2rayN Settings menu open with the Add HTTP and Add SOCKS entries](https://quanticdata.io/integrations/img/v2rayn/add-server.webp?v=20261028a)
2. 02

   ### Enter the proxy details

Type a remark, the gateway host in address and the port in port, then the username and password in the optional fields. Leave transport, network, type, host, path and TLS at their defaults and click OK.

3. 03

   ### Set as active and test

Right-click the new row and choose Set as Active Server, then Test Delay. A latency in milliseconds means the gateway answered with your login.

4. 04

   ### Route the system

In the bottom bar set the system proxy to Set system proxy, or enable Tun mode for apps that ignore the system proxy. The live traffic log shows connections through the node.

5. 05

   ### Verify the exit IP

Open an IP lookup page in a browser. It should show the proxy's IP and the country from the username.

![v2rayN with Tun mode enabled and live traffic in the log](https://quanticdata.io/integrations/img/v2rayn/connection-check.webp?v=20261028a)

### Check it

Test Delay on the server row; then an IP lookup page in a browser once the system proxy is set.

v2rayN 7.x is shown; 6.x has the same entries under a slightly different menu.

## What to type: ports and the username

Copy the line from the dashboard (Proxies, your plan, the generator) rather than typing it: it already carries the host, the country, the session id and the session length. The table shows what each field holds.

| Plan | Copy it from | HTTP port | SOCKS5 port | Username shape |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Residential Premium | the generator | 8080 | 1080 | USER-country-us-sid-k3f9a1b2-ttl-30m |
| Mobile | the generator | 8080 | 1080 | USER-country-us-type-mobile-sid-a1b2c3-ttl-30m |
| Residential Basic | the generator | in the line | in the line | USER-country-us plus a session for sticky |
| Datacenter (per GB) | the generator | 9999 | 10000 | the line's username |
| IPv6 | the generator | 1001 | in the line | the line's username |
| ISP (dedicated IP) | the plan page, one line per IP | in the line | in the line | the line's own login |

The host and the password are in the same line. Pick HTTP or SOCKS5 in the tool and use the port of that column; a port from the other column is the most common reason a check fails. On Premium ISP city plans one port serves both types. USER and the session id stand for your own values.

### Where the line comes from in the dashboard

*Step 3: the number of IPs, the price for 30 days and the Buy button. One IP is one antidetect profile.*

*After payment the plan is in My proxies: each IP comes as IP:Port:Username:Password, HTTP or SOCKS5, ready to paste into the tool.*
- [![QuanticData residential plan generator with country United States, Max pool, Sticky session of 30 minutes, HTTP, 10 sessions and the host:port:user:pass output format](https://quanticdata.io/integrations/img/buy/generator.webp?v=20261028a)](https://quanticdata.io/integrations/img/buy/generator.webp?v=20261028a)

*The plan page has the generator: country, pool, Sticky session with its TTL, HTTP or SOCKS5, then one line per profile in host:port:user:pass.*

## v2rayN proxy questions

What customers ask when they put a QuanticData line into v2rayN.

[Something else? Ask us](https://quanticdata.io/integrations/v2rayn/#ask)

### Add [HTTP] or Add [SOCKS] in v2rayN?

Add [HTTP] with the HTTP port of your plan, Add [SOCKS] with the SOCKS5 port. The address, username and password are the same in both dialogs.

### Test Delay fails in v2rayN. Why?

The protocol does not match the port, or the username and password were left empty: our gateways require them even though v2rayN marks the fields optional.

### System proxy or Tun mode in v2rayN?

Set system proxy covers browsers and most apps. Tun mode captures everything, including apps that ignore proxy settings, and needs the Tun core v2rayN offers to install.

### Which QuanticData plan works best in v2rayN?

For a whole device, a sticky residential or mobile line keeps one exit for up to 24 hours; a dedicated ISP IP never changes and has unlimited traffic, from $2.69 per IP for 30 days. v2rayN takes either as a plain HTTP or SOCKS5 server.
