## What this list of tobacconists in Italy is

**It is the list of the tobacco shops in an Italian area (licensed retailers of monopoly goods, specialist pipe and cigar shops, shops that also sell heated tobacco), with name, shop address, phone, website and the emails published on that website.** It is not an archive to download: it is extracted when you order it, so the collection date is the delivery date.

In this sector the **phone** counts more than the email. In Rome 209 tobacco shops out of 238 had a number on the listing, while only 104 had a linked website. And often the website is not the shop's own: in the 10 rows below, seven out of ten point to pages of a network (brand partner programmes, lottery circuits, trade portals). This is why phone, address and website stay separate columns in the file, and the domain tells you straight away whose page it is.

The Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, the Italian customs and monopolies agency, publishes the list of licensed shops and permits: it is the source for knowing which shops are authorised. Our file is for contacting them, with phone, website, reviews and date of the last review. The count is for **Rome**: the map search returned 264 listings; 26 belonged to other categories (bar-tabaccherie, bars, e-cigarette shops) and we took them out. That is what the category column in the file is for: if you also sell to bars with a tobacco counter, you put them back with a filter. The remaining 238 come from a search that ran to the end without interruption, not from a census of the city.

## The tobacconist contacts you get on every row

These are the columns of the CSV or XLSX. Email and social profiles are filled only when the shop has a reachable website of its own: in Rome there was a website on fewer than half of the listings.

| Field | Type | What it contains |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Shop name | text | The name the tobacco shop trades under, including the shop licence number when it appears in the name. |
| Category | text | The category declared on the listing and the secondary ones: it separates pure tobacco shops from bar-tabaccherie and e-cigarette shops, when they appear in the same area. |
| Address | text | Street and number of the **shop**, meaning the counter where the customer walks in and where the goods are delivered. |
| City, province and postcode | text | Three separate columns, so you split the list by area or by an agent's round without reworking it. |
| Phone | text | The number on the listing, normalised to international format. In the 10 rows of the Rome sample it is always the shop's landline. Before a calling campaign the numbers must be screened against Italy's do-not-call register (Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni). |
| Website | URL | The domain linked to the listing. When it is the page of a network or a circuit, you recognise it from the domain itself. |
| Email found on the website | text | The emails published on the tobacco shop's website, read during enrichment. More than one when there are several. |
| Social profiles | URL | Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn linked from the website, when the shop has them: useful when the landline is busy. |
| Opening hours | text | The hours published on the listing, when there are any: they tell you when the owner is at the counter and when to call. |
| Rating and reviews | number | Average star rating and number of reviews: an order of magnitude of customer traffic. |
| Date of last review | date | When someone last wrote a review: the most honest signal that the shop is still open. |
| Active | yes / doubtful / no | Flag computed from the date of the last review and the website status. «Doubtful» means to be checked, not to be thrown away. |
| Operating address confirmed | yes / no | It is **yes** when the map and the national directory show the same address for the shop. |
| Source per row | text | Google Maps, national directory or both. On request we add the VAT number where the register shows it, checked on VIES. |

## How we build the list

Five choices that decide how many right rows end up in the file.

### The sector from the listing, not from the ATECO code

A company picks its ATECO activity code when it registers and often never updates it when the business changes. We take the category the business shows today on its public listing, on Google Maps and on the Italian national directories.

### The operating address, not only the registered office

The address is where the business works and answers the phone, not the registered office in the company register, which is sometimes only an administrative address.

### Source and date for every field

Next to phone, website and email you see where the value came from and the day we read it.

### Measured coverage

Every list says how many rows really have a phone, a website or an email, counted and not estimated. On this page, in Rome: phone 88% (209 of 238), website 44% (104 of 238). Email coverage is measured in the sample from your area.

### Every month, only the changes

With the monthly refresh you receive new openings, closures and changed contact details, not the whole list again.

Before a calling campaign, Italian numbers must be screened against the Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni, Italy's do-not-call register. A business that finds itself in a list can ask to be removed: [remove your business from our lists](https://quanticdata.io/leads/removal/).

How the list is built

## From the map to the file, step by step

Five steps, always the same. They are the same public collectors you find in the API: if you prefer, you can run them yourself.

### 1. Extraction from the map

The `google_maps_places` collector sweeps the area you name and collects every tobacco shop listing: name, category, address, phone, website, opening hours, rating and reviews.

### 2. National directories for shops without a well-kept listing

The `business_directory` collector goes over the same area on Pagine Gialle and Pagine Bianche. Many neighbourhood shops have a bare listing on the map: the directories help confirm the address and recover the ones that are missing.

### 3. Deduplication on name and street

We normalise name and address (abbreviations, shop licence number, company forms) and merge duplicate listings. One row per shop is left, and the «source» column records where each one came from.

### 4. Enrichment from the website

The `local_business_leads` collector visits the linked website and extracts the published emails, other phone numbers and social profiles. The emails do not come from a purchased archive: they come from the website, and we know from which page.

### 5. «Active» flag and delivery

From the date of the last review and the website status we derive the active / doubtful / no flag, then export to CSV or XLSX with the source on every row. On request we check the VAT numbers on VIES before delivery.

10 rows out of 238 tobacco shops extracted in Rome (Roma), taken only from the listings with the tobacco shop category; phones and emails are masked on this page. The search ran to the end without interruption, but it remains the result of a search, not a census. Measured on 2026-10-01 in a single run; the counts refer to the city named, not to the whole of Italy.

Pricing

## What it costs

Two ways. The self-service API if you want to rebuild the list yourself whenever you need it, the finished file if you only want to open the CSV and start. Prices are always «from»: they depend on how many businesses come out of the area you name.

**Free sample**20 rows*from the area you name, within one business day*

**Self-service API**from $0.01 per lead*`local_business_leads` collector, $2 of free credit every month, failed extractions not charged*

**One province**from €290*every business in the sector, enriched, CSV/XLSX, source per row*

**All of Italy**quote within 24 h*by region or nationwide; monthly refresh with the changes only from €390/month*

The API price is per row delivered: failed extractions are not charged and rows with neither phone nor website are not counted. Prices of the finished files exclude VAT.

## Who buys a list of tabaccherie

Not smokers: companies that sell to tobacco shops and need the counter's phone and the shop's address.

### Distributors of counter products

Lighters, rolling papers, snacks, gift items: frequent, local reordering, built around the agent and the shop's phone.

### E-cigarette and e-liquid brands

Whoever looks for new points of sale starts from the tobacco shops of a province, keeping those still trading by date of the last review.

### Payment and top-up networks

Bill payments, phone top-ups and public services: networks recruit shops in uncovered areas, and the address shows where they are missing.

### Parcel pickup point networks

Couriers and delivery platforms look for shops with long opening hours: hours and coordinates tell you which shops can act as pickup points.

### Outdoor vending machines

Installation and service of the 24-hour machines outside the shop: a technical round per area, organised by postcode.

### Security and cash handling

CCTV, safes, till systems: shops with a lot of cash at the counter, to be reached on the owner's landline.

## A bought list versus a list built on request

The six differences that count when you sell to tobacco shops.

| | Bought list | This list |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Freshness | A static file: usually it does not say when it was collected. | Extracted the day you order it; on request it comes back every month with the changes only. |
| Source per row | One big pool, with no way to know where each contact comes from. | Every row states the source: map, national directory or both. |
| Address | Often the **registered office** of the business, not the shop. | The address of the **shop**, with the «confirmed» flag when the two sources agree. |
| Website and email | Emails of undeclared origin, sometimes of a network and not of the shop. | Emails read from the linked website, with the page they come from; network pages are recognisable from the domain. |
| Shops closed or sold | No signal: you find out by calling. | Active / doubtful / no flag and date of the last review on every row. |
| Pricing model | A package to buy whole, often national. | 20 free rows, then from $0.01 per lead through the API or from €290 per province. |

## Compliance: what is in the file and what is up to you

The list contains **business contacts only**: shop name, shop address, published number, website and the emails the tobacco shop publishes on its own website. No consumer data, no private contacts, no personal profiles bought from third parties.

For business-to-business contact the legal basis is legitimate interest, which the GDPR names explicitly for direct marketing in [recital 47](https://gdpr-info.eu/recitals/no-47/). Many tobacco shops are sole traders: they are flagged in a separate column, because for them the contact detail counts as personal data and the processing has to be assessed case by case.

**Email, SMS and automated messages need consent in Italy.** Sending commercial communications through automated systems requires the recipient's prior consent, even when the recipient is a company or a professional (art. 130 of the Italian Privacy Code): the email column is for whoever already has that consent or for one-to-one contacts. Calls with a live operator are allowed only to numbers not listed in the Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni, Italy's do-not-call register.

When you receive the file you become an **independent controller** of the data: privacy notice, record of processing and replies to data subjects' requests are up to you. Tobacco shops are contacted mostly by phone, so before any campaign the numbers must be screened against the do-not-call register; on request we check the VAT numbers on VIES before delivery.

If your business is in one of our lists and you want it out, the business name and the contact detail to remove are enough: [remove your business from our lists](https://quanticdata.io/leads/removal/).

## Frequently asked questions

What buyers ask us before ordering. If something is missing, ask for the sample and write the question in the form: a person replies.

[Ask for your sample →](/datasets/italy/tobacconists/#sample)

### How many tobacco shops (tabaccherie) are there in Italy?

We have not counted a national total, so we do not publish one; the number depends on the area. The only figure we measured is Rome: 238 tobacco shops in a single run on 1 October 2026. Before you order we tell you how many rows come out of the province or region you need, and the free sample comes from that same area.

### What are tobacco shops called in Italy, and what do they sell?

A tobacco shop in Italy is a tabaccheria, often signed simply «Tabacchi»: a licensed retailer of monopoly goods, authorised by the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli. Besides cigarettes, cigars and heated tobacco, many also handle bill payments, phone top-ups and lottery games. In the file the category column separates them from bar-tabaccherie and e-cigarette shops, which you can add back with a filter.

### How up to date is the data?

It is current to the day of extraction, because the list is generated when you order it instead of being pulled from an archive. The date-of-last-review column tells you, row by row, how recently someone visited the shop. On request we rebuild the file every month and deliver only the changes: new openings, closures, changed numbers.

### How many tobacconists in the list have an email?

Fewer than have a phone. We read the emails on the website, and in Rome only 104 tobacco shops out of 238 (44%) had a website linked to the listing, partly network pages rather than their own sites. The phone, on the other hand, was on 209 listings out of 238 (88%). The free sample shows you the real percentages for your area before you pay.

### Is it legal to contact tobacco shops?

They are business contacts published by the shops themselves. For B2B the GDPR allows legitimate interest under recital 47, and sole traders are flagged separately. When you receive the file you become an independent controller and, before calling, you must screen the numbers against Italy's do-not-call register. Automated email needs prior consent in Italy.

### Can I download the list as CSV or Excel, and how fast?

CSV and XLSX, with the source on every row; JSON on request. The 20-row sample arrives within one business day. A full province usually takes one or two business days, because the website of every tobacco shop has to be visited one by one to read the emails and social profiles.

### Can I get a list of tabaccherie with phone numbers by province?

Yes, and it is the most requested cut: one province starts at €290. You can also name a list of municipalities, a radius in kilometres or the postcodes of an agent's round. There is no national package you have to buy whole before you can get your area.

### API or finished file: which is better?

The API makes sense if you have someone to integrate it and you want to rebuild the list yourself: you pay from $0.01 per lead and get $2 of free credit every month. The finished file makes sense if you need a province already deduplicated, enriched and checked, without writing a line of code.

### What guarantee is there on quality?

Before buying you get 20 real rows from your area for free. After buying, every field we deliver is guaranteed: if a field is wrong, for example an email that does not exist, that row is refunded. For phones the refund applies when the number does not exist or is not valid, not when nobody answers, because a phone that is switched off cannot be verified. The guarantee covers the fields of the list you bought (with «phone only», the phone) and the period to report a row is stated in the order.

### Can I import the list of tobacco shops into my CRM?

Yes. The list arrives as CSV and XLSX with one column per field, so it loads through the contact import of HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Odoo or monday CRM, or opens in Excel and Google Sheets. With the API the rows reach your systems directly, without a file.

## Want to see 20 tobacco shops from your area?

Tell us the city or the province: we send you 20 complete rows within one business day, with no account and no card.
