## What this list of Italian cheese makers is

**It is the list of the dairies in an Italian area (the businesses whose map category is «Caseificio», from the craft cheese room to the factory), with business name, address, phone, website and the emails published on that website.** It is not an archive to download: it is extracted when you order it, so the collection date is the delivery date.

Searches for a list of Italian dairies mostly return the member lists of the PDO consortia and the list of approved establishments published by the Italian Ministry of Health, which is the right place to check a health approval. Our file is for something else: for whoever sells to dairies and needs address, phone, website and email. It does not say whether a dairy belongs to a consortium or holds an EC approval number.

The numbers on this page are for **Battipaglia**, in the province of Salerno: the «caseificio» search of 4 October 2026 exhausted the map results and returned 48 listings; 21 were dairy and cheese shops, grocers and wholesalers, and we took them out. That leaves 27 dairies, including some listings from neighbouring towns such as Bellizzi and Pontecagnano Faiano; the names show that many make buffalo mozzarella. It is a single town: a province gives very different numbers.

## The fields you get on every row

These are the columns of the CSV or XLSX. Email and email type are read on each business’s own website, so they are filled only for the businesses with a reachable website.

| Field | Type | What it contains |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Business | text | The name the business shows on its public listing. |
| Category | text | The category the listing shows today. Listings of other categories are left out. |
| Address, postcode, comune and province | text | The **operating address**, where the business works and answers, in separate columns so you can split the list by area. |
| Phone and Phone 2 | text | The published numbers, in international format. Before a calling campaign the numbers must be screened against Italy's do-not-call register (Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni). |
| Email and email type | text | The email the business publishes on its own website, with its type: generic, personal or certified (PEC). Empty when we did not find one. |
| Website | URL | The business domain when we find it on the listing; empty when we do not. |
| Operating address check | yes / no | Yes when the map listing and the national directory listing show the same address. |
| Status on the map | text | Hours shown, temporarily closed or permanently closed, as the listing shows it on the day we read it. |
| Rating and number of reviews | number | The average rating and the review count of the listing: an order of magnitude of the client volume. |
| Directory and map listing | URL | The two public pages the row comes from: the source of every value, open to check. |
| Checked on | date | The day we read the sources for that row. |
| Row ID | text | A stable code, so the same business does not reach you twice across orders. |

## How we build the list

Four choices that decide how many right rows end up in the file.

### The sector from the listing, not from the ATECO code

A company picks its ATECO activity code when it registers and often never updates it when the business changes. We take the category the business shows today on its public listing, on Google Maps and on the Italian national directories.

### The operating address, not only the registered office

The address is where the business works and answers the phone, not the registered office in the company register, which is sometimes only an administrative address.

### Source and date on every row

Every row carries the links to the two public listings it comes from and the day we read it.

### Every month, only the changes

With the monthly refresh you receive new openings, closures and changed contact details, not the whole list again.

Before a calling campaign, Italian numbers must be screened against the Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni, Italy's do-not-call register. A business that finds itself in a list can ask to be removed: [remove your business from our lists](https://quanticdata.io/leads/removal/).

## Who buys a list of dairies in Italy

Not someone shopping for mozzarella: companies that sell to cheese makers and need the plant where the milk is worked.

### Dairy plant and equipment

Vats, stretching machines, cold rooms and packing lines: sold district by district, starting from the local cheese rooms.

### Food packaging and labels

Tubs, brine bags and labels: a recurring purchase that sells best with the dairy’s direct phone.

### Starter cultures, rennet and lab testing

Technical ingredients and milk testing: the list is filtered on the dairies still operating.

### Food safety consulting

Self-control plans and certifications: rating and review volume help tell the factory from the small farm shop.

### Cold-chain logistics

Refrigerated pickup and delivery: postcode and municipality let you draw a collection round across the area.

### Distributors, restaurants and importers

Whoever looks for new cheese suppliers starts from the dairies with a website: they are the ones ready to send a price list.

## Compliance: what is in the file and what is up to you

The list contains **business contacts only**: business name, operating address, published number, website and the emails the business publishes on its own website. No consumer data, no private contacts, no data on the farmers who deliver the milk, no personal profiles bought from third parties.

For business-to-business contact the legal basis is legitimate interest, which the GDPR names explicitly for direct marketing in [recital 47](https://gdpr-info.eu/recitals/no-47/). For sole traders the contact detail counts as personal data and the processing has to be assessed case by case. A plant’s health approval is checked on the official list of the Italian Ministry of Health: our file does not certify it.

**Email, SMS and automated messages need consent in Italy.** Sending commercial communications through automated systems requires the recipient's prior consent, even when the recipient is a company or a professional (art. 130 of the Italian Privacy Code): the email column is for whoever already has that consent, or for the cases where the law does not require it, such as existing customers for similar products. Calls with a live operator are allowed only to numbers not listed in the Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni, Italy's do-not-call register.

When you receive the file you become an **independent controller** of the data: privacy notice, record of processing and replies to data subjects' requests are up to you.

If your business is in one of our lists and you want it out, the business name and the contact detail to remove are enough: [remove your business from our lists](https://quanticdata.io/leads/removal/).

## Frequently asked questions

What buyers ask us before ordering. If something is missing, ask for the sample and write the question in the form: a person replies.

[Ask for your sample →](/datasets/italy/dairies/#sample)

### How many dairies are there in the list?

It depends on the area. The only number we measured is Battipaglia: 27 dairies in a single run on 4 October 2026, which exhausted the map for the town, after removing other categories. We do not publish a national total because we have not counted one. Before you order we tell you how many rows come out of your province or district.

### Is this the consortium list or the EC approval list?

No. The PDO consortia publish their members and the Italian Ministry of Health publishes the list of approved establishments: those are the right sources to check a PDO or a health approval. Our file is built from the map and the national directories for whoever sells to dairies, with address, phone, website and email.

### How up to date is the data?

It is current to the day of extraction, because the list is generated when you order it instead of being pulled from an archive. Long-established cheese makers sit next to farm shops that opened last year: the status on the map (hours shown, temporarily or permanently closed) tells you, row by row, who is operating. On request we rebuild the file every month and deliver only the changes.

### How many Italian dairies in the list have an email?

The emails do not come from an archive: we read them on the business website, so coverage depends on how many have a website. In the Battipaglia sample, 19 dairies out of 27 (70%) had a website to visit; for the others you get phone and address. In the free sample you see the real percentage for your area before you pay.

### Is it legal to contact these dairies?

They are business contacts published by the businesses themselves. For B2B the GDPR allows legitimate interest under recital 47. Whoever receives the file becomes an independent controller. Commercial emails and SMS sent with automated systems need the recipient’s prior consent (art. 130 of the Italian Privacy Code), except for existing customers offered similar products. Calls with a live operator are allowed to numbers not listed in the Registro Pubblico delle Opposizioni, Italy’s do-not-call register.

### Can I download the list as CSV or Excel, and how fast?

CSV and XLSX, with the source on every row; JSON on request. The 20-row sample arrives within one business day. A full province usually takes one or two business days, because every website has to be visited one by one to read the published emails.

### Can I buy just one province or one city?

Yes: one province starts at €290. With dairies it often pays to think in districts: you can name a list of municipalities, a radius in kilometres or a whole region. There is no national package you have to buy whole before you can get your area.

### API or finished file: which is better?

The API makes sense if you have someone to integrate it and you want to rebuild the list yourself: you pay from $0.01 per lead and get $2 of free credit every month. The finished file makes sense if you need a province already deduplicated, enriched and checked, without writing a line of code.

### What guarantee is there on quality?

Before buying you get 20 real rows from your area for free. After buying, every field we deliver is guaranteed: if it is wrong, for example an email that does not exist, that row is refunded. For phones the refund applies when the number does not exist or is not valid, not when nobody answers. The period to report a row is stated in the order.

## Want to see 20 dairies from your area?
