Hive Social is an app-first network: on the web there is nothing to scrape. On 2 October 2026 we sent twenty-five requests from eight countries to hivesocial.app and to Hive's App Store listings. The website is a 20,841-byte brochure with no profiles or posts, identical from every country. The iOS app was last updated on 30 August 2023, and Germany's App Store does not list it at all. So a proxy has little to do on Hive: a static ISP address for your own account, and a country-targeted residential exit to check how Hive's public pages and store listings look in a given market.

## What people search for

Google returns no autocomplete suggestions at all for "hive social proxies" or "hive social scraper". "hive social app" completes to download, "not working", login, "app store" and a few social media management phrases. On the US results page for "hive social proxies" there is no proxy or scraping page: the Hive homepage, the App Store listing, a Reddit thread from artists, Hive's privacy page (it ranks because it mentions logging your "IP address (or proxy server)"), a Facebook group asking whether anyone still uses Hive, Business Insider, Hive's guidelines, Digital Trends, Hive's account on X and Mashable. The related searches are "Hive social proxies free", "list", "review" and "android", plus sign-up and login.

That is mostly people trying to get the app working, or wondering if the network is still alive. Nobody has written down what Hive actually exposes to an outside client and what its own rules say, so that is what this article measures.

## What Hive is in 2026

Hive Social launched on the App Store in October 2019, founded by Kassandra Pop. It went viral in November 2022 during the Twitter ownership change and passed one million accounts. On 30 November 2022 the German security collective zerforschung published a warning that critical flaws let any attacker read all user data, including private posts and direct messages; Hive shut its servers down and came back on 15 December 2022 with several features disabled. The app is rated 17+ and shows a chronological feed, profile music and themes.

The public record since then is thin. Apple's own lookup API, which we queried on 2 October 2026, reports version 2.9.1 released on 30 August 2023 as the current iOS build: more than three years without an App Store update. Wikipedia still lists the service as active, and the website still serves pages, but the Android help article on the site still says Hive "hope to release Android in 2022".

## What the website serves to a proxied client

The website is a static marketing site behind Cloudflare's cache. Google's index for the domain holds 13 pages: home, about, contact, guidelines, privacy, an Android beta form and seven help-center articles. No profile, no post, no hashtag page. We tried a profile-shaped URL and got the site's 404.

| Request (2 October 2026) | Exit | Result | Bytes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Homepage, plain HTTP | US | 200, 1st attempt, cache HIT, 5.8 s | 20,841 |
| Homepage, plain HTTP | Japan | 200, 1st attempt, 1.4 s | 20,841 |
| Homepage, rendered | US | 200, 22.2 s, same 171 words | 379,587 |
| Homepage, no-JS and rendered audit | US, Germany, Brazil | 200 both ways, 178 words each, no canonical, no JSON-LD | n/a |
| robots.txt | US | 200, empty file, header noindex | 0 |
| sitemap.xml | US | 404 | 5,480 |
| /terms | US | 404 | 5,480 |
| Profile-shaped URL (/@hive) | US | 404 | 5,480 |
| /privacy ("Privacy policy & Terms") | US, Germany | 200, 1st attempt | 52,993 |
| /guidelines | UK | 200, 1st attempt | 26,083 |
| Help-center article | US | 200, 1st attempt | 8,458 |

Three things stand out. First, nothing is blocked: every request was answered on the first attempt, with no challenge, because there is nothing behind the pages worth protecting. Second, nothing depends on JavaScript. The rendered homepage carried exactly the same text as the plain one, but weighed 18 times more, 379,587 bytes against 20,841. Third, the cache is old: the homepage came back with an age header of up to 4,922,037 seconds, about 57 days. If you are monitoring Hive's site, plain HTTP is the right tool and a browser is wasted traffic.

The robots.txt is a 200 response with an empty body, which in practice allows every crawler everywhere, but it comes with an `x-robots-tag: noindex` header on the file itself. You can paste any robots file into our ../../tools/robots-txt-tester/ to see the verdict for a given user agent.

## What Hive's rules say

Hive's Terms of Use are not on the website: /terms returns 404, and the privacy page, titled "Privacy policy & Terms", refers to Terms and Conditions that are "accessible at Hive", meaning inside the app. So we cannot quote a scraping clause, and we will not invent one. What the site does publish is clear enough:

- The community guidelines forbid artificially collecting likes, followers or shares, posting repetitive comments or content, and repeatedly contacting people for commercial purposes without consent. The stated penalty is account deletion.

- Impersonation results in account deletion.

- The privacy notice says Hive logs device data including "your IP address (or proxy server)", internet provider or mobile carrier, and location based on IP.

Put together: engagement bots, follower farming and bulk outreach are against Hive's rules, and a proxy changes nothing about that. Hive also sees the proxy address you connect from. And since the only place Hive's content lives is the app and its private backend, any automated collection would mean talking to that backend directly, which is exactly the surface zerforschung found broken in 2022. That is not something to point a scraper at. If you need Hive data for research, write to support@hivesocial.app and ask.

## Where the measurable data actually is: the App Store

The most useful public data about Hive is not on hivesocial.app but on Apple's store pages, and it does change by country. Apple documents a lookup endpoint in its iTunes Search API that returns an app's store metadata as JSON for a given storefront.

| Storefront | Store page | Lookup API | Ratings |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| United States | 200, 631,895 B | 1 result, 10,815 B | 2,144, average 3.3 |
| United Kingdom | 200, 636,527 B | not queried | 219, average 3.1 |
| Canada | 200, 608,566 B | not queried | 182, average 2.8 |
| France | 200, 626,842 B | not queried | listed |
| Italy | not queried | 1 result, 10,828 B | 66, average 4.2 |
| Germany | 404, 1,146 B | 0 results, 42 B | not listed |

The German result is the interesting one. We requested the German store page from a German exit and again from a US exit, and both returned 404; the lookup API with `country=de` returned an empty result. So the storefront decides, not the visitor's IP. Apple's page does not say why the app is missing there, and we do not guess. Everywhere it is listed, it is the same build: version 2.9.1, 110,360,576 bytes, rated 17+, English only.

That also tells you what a proxy is and is not needed for. To read store metadata for a country, the storefront code in the URL is enough; Apple serves it to any exit. A proxy in the target country matters when you want to see what a person in that country sees, which is the same thing here, but not on stores that personalize by location. Apple's documentation limits the Search API to roughly 20 calls per minute, so even a full storefront sweep is a slow, polite job, not a proxy job. If you want App Store reviews or listing data in structured form, our ../../collectors/app-store-reviews-api/ and ../../collectors/app-store-scraper-api/ collectors return them and bill only successful results.

## What a proxy is actually useful for on Hive

| Job | Proxy type | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Run your own brand or creator account from a stable address | Static ISP, one account per address | Hive logs your IP; a consistent address is normal behaviour, not a trick |
| Check whether Hive's site and links load for visitors in a market | Residential, country-targeted, plain HTTP | The site was identical in all five countries we tried |
| Check store presence and ratings per country | Often none; the storefront code decides | Germany was missing from both a German and a US exit |
| See the app as a user in another country sees it | Mobile, on a test phone you own | We did not test the app itself in this run |
| Collect profiles, posts or followers at scale | None | Nothing is public on the web, and automating the app backend is not a legitimate route |
| Grow followers, likes or outreach automatically | None | Forbidden by Hive's guidelines; accounts get deleted |

We used ../../residential-proxies/ for every request in this article. For a single brand account, ../../isp-proxies/ gives you the same address every session. If you test the app on a phone in another market, ../../mobile-proxies/ put that phone on a carrier network in the country you choose; we make no claim about how Hive treats them, because we did not test the app.

## What it costs to monitor Hive

Very little, because the pages are small and nothing fails. At the Residential Basic price of $0.80 per GB:

- Homepage over plain HTTP: 20,841 bytes. Checking it once a day from five countries for 30 days is 150 fetches, 3.13 MB, about $0.0025.

- The same homepage rendered: 379,587 bytes. A thousand renders is 379.6 MB, about $0.30, for zero extra information.

- The iTunes lookup for one storefront: about 10.8 KB. Thirty storefronts once a day for 30 days is 900 calls, 9.7 MB, about $0.008, well inside Apple's documented rate if you space the calls.

The cost lesson is the same as on most brochure sites: pick plain HTTP and skip the browser. For comparison, a failed browser render on a guarded network like Clapper cost us more than a successful one; see ../clapper-proxies/.

## Where Hive's audience went

Hive was one of several networks that took in users leaving Twitter in late 2022. If your job is social listening or brand monitoring for that audience, the open, measurable networks are elsewhere. We have measured them the same way: ../bluesky-proxies/ has a documented public API, ../mastodon-proxies/ publishes per-server rules and APIs, and ../threads-proxies/ covers Meta's network. Each of those posts says what is public and what the terms allow.

## FAQ

Quick answers on hive social proxies.

[Something else? Ask us](mailto:hello@quanticdata.io)

### Can I scrape Hive Social with proxies?

There is nothing public on the web to scrape. On 2 October 2026 the hivesocial.app website held 13 indexed pages, all marketing and help content, and profile-shaped URLs returned 404. Profiles and posts exist only inside the app. Hive's guidelines forbid fake engagement and unsolicited commercial contact, and its full Terms of Use live in the app. For research data, ask Hive at support@hivesocial.app.

### Is there a Hive Social web version?

No. The website is a brochure with a homepage, guidelines, privacy page, Android beta form and help articles. There is no login, feed, search or profile page on the web. The homepage was 20,841 bytes over plain HTTP and showed the same 171 words with or without JavaScript.

### Is Hive Social still active in 2026?

The website and the App Store listing are online, and Wikipedia lists the service as active. Apple's lookup API reports version 2.9.1, released on 30 August 2023, as the current iOS build, so the app has not had an App Store update in more than three years. The US listing shows 2,144 ratings with an average of 3.3.

### Why can't I find Hive Social on the App Store in Germany?

On 2 October 2026 the German App Store page returned 404 and Apple's lookup API returned zero results for the German storefront, from both a German and a US exit. The app was listed in the US, UK, Canada, France and Italy. Apple's page does not give a reason. A proxy does not change which storefront your Apple account belongs to.

### Which proxy should I use for Hive Social?

A static ISP address if you run your own brand or creator account and want the same address every session; Hive logs the IP you connect from. A country-targeted residential exit to check Hive's public pages in a market. Not a rotating pool for automation: there is no public web data, and fake engagement is against Hive's guidelines.

### Does Hive Social block proxies?

The website did not challenge any of our requests: every one, from the US, Germany, the UK, Brazil and Japan, was answered on the first attempt with no challenge. That says nothing about the app, which we did not test. Hive's privacy notice says it records your IP address or proxy server along with your internet provider and location.

## Measure a platform before you plan for it

Every number in this post came from plain and rendered requests through residential exits in eight countries. Run the same checks on any site: status, bytes, attempts, robots.txt and what changes by country. Every account gets $2 of free API usage per month, and failed requests are never billed.
